FPSO & Offshore Structures

Viking Systems has been providing structural design of floating and fixed offshore structures since 2001, and engages in both conversion and new-building projects.

Viking has become a major player in FPSO and FSO vessel structural design activities with a primary focus on the conversion of tankers to become FPSO and FSO vessels. Viking Systems has worked on over 20 conversion projects of VLCC and ULCC tankers, primarily destined for Brazil and West Africa locations.  Viking is experienced in the selection of suitable tanker candidates for conversion by assessment of thickness gagings to determine an expected amount of steel renewal at conversion, as well as the design of reinforcements required to remain in a design environment for longer periods such as 20 to 25 years of operation.

Viking Systems' highly specialized knowledge and technology, developed to determine solutions for FPSO structural design projects, has been gained over a period of more than 10 years of direct involvement in the industry.  Viking has worked with oil majors, contractors, and classification societies to develop a streamlined process adaptable to the rules of classification societies such as ABS, BV, and DNV.
